The Wish Away Love Potion

One summer night, a girl was sitting on a bench under the shed of the moonlight. She has a pale skin and her hair was as black as an ivory. Her brown round eyes sparkled like the stars in the sky and her little smooth fingers touched the tree beside her. An old oak tree, which had a carved of two initials, “LR”. The leaves began to fall and the bark became brittle and fell off the tree. Her tears started to fall as her memories from her childhood flashed back and whispered the words, “Does our friendship has to end like this? Slowly…dying?”

Leanie is a simple teenage girl who has a boy best friend named Roy. The two became best friends since they were five. As they grew older, the two became closer to each other until one of them had unconsciously fallen.

Leanie, asked for an advice from her friend, Wendy, who offered her a magical potion. “Here”, Wendy handed the potion. “That is a ‘Wish Away Love Potion’. That will make a feeling disappear if you wished to. Since you wanted your feelings for him to disappear, just pour three drops of potion to your drink or food and say the words”. Leanie stood straight, nodded and said, “Okay, got it.”

“Are you sure you won’t regret this? Because I don’t have any retrieve the feelings potion or wha….”

“Wendy” Leanie cut her. “I won’t regret this. And that would be impossible because I wouldn’t know that I loved him before, after I try this.” Wendy hugged her tightly and said, “Okay, I understand”

After that meeting, Leanie had a hard time to sleep thinking about the potion and the possible changes that would happen. Many thoughts were running through her mind.

The sun had risen, Leanie woke up in her bed doubting what she had in her hand. Suddenly, someone barged on the door as if were chased by a dog.

“Hey! Why are you running?” Leanie asked with a doubt.

“I’m sorry, I was just excited” he smiled catching his breath.

“Excited for what, Roy?” she asked.

“I just wanted to say something. I’ve been keeping this since were ten and I dreamt last night about you and I think this is the right time to tell you this”. He said.

“Wait, I don’t get it. What is it? Tell me.” She asked curiously.

“I love you” Those three words stunned Leanie as if she were struck by lightning and all she can say is,

“Seriously? Hahaha.” Leanie burst into laughter.

“Why? Is there something funny?” he asked.

“Wait, please I have no time for jokes”

“This isn’t a joke” he said seriously.

“Okay, I’m sorry to tell you this but I don’t feel the same way. We’re best friends right? And if we will be more than friends and if it won’t work out, I don’t want to lose two special persons. I hope you’ll understand” Leanie explained holding his both arms.

“I’m sorry, just pretend that this day never happened. I have to go now, sure Mom’s waiting for me.”

“Why? Where?” she asked.

“In the airport.”

“You’re leaving?”

“Yes. For good.”

“For good? Why? You’ll leave me here alone?” tears formed in her eyes.

“Leanie, your decision made this. You know, I want you to come with me but I also know that it’s hard for you to leave this place.”

“So if I feel the same way too and asked you to stay here with me, would you do that?” Roy stayed silent and bowed his head.

“Okay, I get it. Just go now.” Leanie said with a low voice and turned her back.

“Leanie” Roy hold her right arm but she wiped it and said, “Just go”, and she went back to her room.

Leanie sat on the bed and found the magical potion on the table. She held it and took a look.

“Wish Away Love Potion? Where did I get this?” Someone suddenly knocked at the door. “Leanie?” It’s Wendy.

“Wendy” she hugged her tightly.

“I’ve heard that Roy will live in Korea for good.” Wendy said.

Leanie nodded and said, “Actually, he came here”.

“Really? By the way, did you do it?”

“Do what?”

“Nothing”

Leanie took the potion inside her pocket and said, “I found this potion on my table. Actually, I woke up holding it. Do you know what kind of potion is this?” she asked.

Wendy gasped and asked, “You used it?”

“This? I don’t know”. Wendy took the potion.

“I’m the one who gave this to you. You don’t remember? I gave this to you because you wanted your feelings for Roy to be gone and you just wanted to save your friendship.” Wendy explained.

“Did I really asked for that?”

“Ye..yes”

“I don’t… I don’t really understand. You’re telling me that I have fallen for my best friend?” Leanie started to cry.

“Why are you crying? You regret this?”

“Don’t you know that…Roy came here and confessed his feelings for me? And I, a very stupid girl just said, I don’t feel the same way” Wendy got shocked.

“So, it worked? But it came out worse. I’m sorry Leanie, I should have not given you the potion.”

“It’s okay, it already happened and we just have to accept it.” She said.

“NO”

“Roy?” Leanie and Wendy were shocked.

“I thought you were…”

“I went back here because I just I wanted to give this to you but I heard everything. And I’ve heard what I need to hear. Why Leanie?”

“I…I just wanted to save our friendship and I don’t want to complicate everything.”

“But what about you? Me?” he said pointing himself.

“I don’t know Roy, I really don’t know” Leanie said holding her head.

“Please, just give me a chance to love you and I swear I’ll do everything to make you happy.” And he suddenly hugged her tightly and whispered to her ears, “Let’s not worry about the future. Let us just enjoy what we have now”.

The potion might have separate them but it’s their fate which made them be together as one.
